Yesterday still feels like a dream to me and a few others. I would have never thought in a million years that hours spent stroking a brush on two canvases would alone provide $70,000 to help Thabo Sefolosha and his wife Bertille raise money for their great charity event called A Night For Africa which will forever be a night to remember for me. This would have never came into fruition without my older brother Josh Johnson (Jotti Notch) and Ciara Amir #GodBless
December 4th, 2012 I got a phone call from my friend Alex (Twitter @alexrenee1408) asking if I wanted to show artwork with her at a event the following Friday, this event happened to be a birthday bash for singer Keri Hilson sponsored by NBA players Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka and Serge's younger brother Blondy. I agreed, I try to capitalize on every opportunity I come across so not only I got my artwork together to show at the event but in 2 days I painted a entire new portrait painting of Keri Hilson then showed my art that Friday, December 7, 2012 at 9pm. And in the end my friend got her painting signed by Kevin Durant and with the help of my older brother Josh (Twitter @jottinotch) not only I got to meet Keri Hilson because of the painting but she also shared how nice it will look in her home and took the time to show how much she liked it by tweeting me on Twitter. One of my best nights in 2012. It only takes that one opportunity to advance your life and bring your dreams into fruition. Question is will you be ready when it comes? #GoHardYoung
Woke up Thursday, October 25 with a conversation going on in my mentions on Twitter between NBA player Damien Wilkins and Kim Zolciak from real housewives of Atlanta "Hey @dwilkins3000 I need @RayTennyson to paint Kroy!!!! Miss u D!!!" I knew my art was getting better but not on this scale, don't get me wrong I was excited but nervous at the same time. So I mention her back giving her my contact info. I get another mention and its Kim Zolciak telling me that she had sent me a email. In the email she asks for my number, after I sent my number five minutes later she calls and tells me how she likes my work and how she had seen the painting I did for Damien Wilkins weeks before and wanted something similar as a anniversary gift for her husband Kroy Biermann, and then tells me are phone call will be on her new reality show "Don't be tardy" When I got off the phone all I could think about was if I could meet her expectations, and then what made it worse was the size she requested, it would be the largest canvas I've done up until that point. But I knew this was another turning point, if I wanted to become a better artist then I would have to start acting like one. From that point on I didn't worry about how it would turn out once completed, I knew if I focused like I did on the pass paintings the end result of this painting will come out good as well. Two weeks later days away from her anniversary party I shipped it and she loved it "How amazing is this painted pic @RayTennyson did for me for Kroy!! I love it!!"
I was on the Oklahoma news channel the last NBA season 2012 but this time I'm was contacted to be featured in The Oklahoman for my OKC Thunder artwork.
On this episode I paint Singer Ciara. I was satisfied with this one as I develop my use of colors. A lot more videos coming soon! "I said I will keep them coming"
On this episode of Art by Ray Tennyson, Ray paints Latoya Forever. A lot more videos coming soon! "I said I will keep them coming. In this episode I got the opportunity to paint LaToya Forever, definitely wanted to start progressing my art by practicing colors and in this episode I do that"
My YouTube is back and running, got tied up with a lot of things and now I can focus more on putting videos out. In this episode I got the opportunity to do a painting for NBA player Damien Wilkins
A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to do a painting for NBA player Damien Wilkins, weeks later I finally completed his painting and really like how it came out. Hope this is just the beginning for me to be a well known artist by being sought after by more individuals, families and celebrities. #GoHardYoung
My new animated series coming to YouTube on my channel RayTennysonTV. Trying to do a lot of promoting to get more subscriber to my channel, I have a team getting ready and we're going to take this channel to another level with entertainment. Since my art was my main focus and had a lot to get completed I was doing as much videos as I wanted but now that I'm getting a lot more organized this channel is going to be my next priority and this series marks the spot. Still working on the title but I really want to see how it turns out and if it's as big as I want it then there will definitely be more to come. On to the next. www.youtube.com/raytennysontv
Woke up the morning of August 27 and checked my Twitter and one of my followers had mentioned me that I was on WorldStar and was shocked when I seen it. This definitely gave me more than enought motivation to step it up and go a lot further with my art. And now my next "Big" goal is to get skilled enough to be on the Ellen Show. Only time will tell
I'm now in the process of starting a animated series on my YouTube channel. I can't wait to see how it turns out, still in the beginning stages but its on its way. Will definitely be putting out a quick prototype similar to the actual series to see how it will play out. This is just a small portion of the things I want to get into, and it will give me the experience for future projects. Go hard young
Finishing up some small touches to my new painting video. This was a painting I was commissioned to do and couldn't wait to get started. The guy wanted Drake with Aaliyah ghosted in the background also with with the OVO somehow incorporated in it. I took this great concept and put my style to it and came up with the finished project. On to the next
I had gotten a commission request with a nice concept, the person wanted Drake with Aaliyah ghosted in the background also with the OVO owl placed somewhere. Pulling out the pencil I started to sketch a quick design and came up with this.
I was given the opportunity last week to do a live painting at a show. The title of the show was Midtown Soul The Sohshel Edition, so the person that popped in my head was Jill Scott. It came out very well and the show was a success, that live painting brought my confidence to another level. On to the next!
